Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a new investment of $252 million to help the Canadian agri-food industry. The government is allocating $77 million to food processors, including meat packers, and a $125 million increase in funding to the AgriRecovery fund to help farmers adapt to market changes. In addition, $50 million is being allocated to a new Food Surplus Purchase Program that will enable the government to buy large quantities of certain products at risk of going to waste and send them to organizations faced with food insecurity.

Trudeau also committed to increasing the credit line for the Canadian Dairy Commission by $200 million.
