Closures / Restrictions Nunavut’s Minister of Health, George Hickes declared a state of public health emergency for the territory. All bars in the territory will be closed by Friday, March 20, and restaurants will be moved to take-out only, with no more than 10 people in line at a time.

COVID-19 Countermeasures: 
Premier Joe Savikataaq announced strict fines for individuals who do not comply with self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The penalties include a fine of up to $50,000 or up to six months in jail.

All individuals returning to Nunavut will require approval from the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer and are required to self-isolate at home for 14 days upon return to the territory.
