Economic Aid: Measures to help vulnerable Nova Scotians including additional support for individuals on income assistance, support to Feed Nova Scotia, eviction restrictions, and emergency funding to Senior Support programs have been released.
Closures / Restrictions: Borders will tighten to travellers, with direction to self-isolate, and with exemptions for essential goods and services movement. Gatherings over 5 people are restricted, workplaces must ensure there is a two-metre distance that can be maintained. Full listing of closures and exemptions can be found here.
Premier Stephen McNeil announced that the province’s public schools will remain closed until May 1, 2020. All exams are cancelled and school trips that were planned will not take place.
COVID-19 Countermeasures: In the coming weeks, the province will be launching an e-learning option for students, as well as at-home options for those without internet access.
Nova Scotia has extended its State of Emergency for a further two weeks. The order will be in effect until April 19, 2020.
