Economic Aid: Premier Sandy Silver announced an economic stimulus package that will support both businesses and workers.

The Government of Yukon announced a one-time $1 million increase to the province’s Tourism Cooperative Marketing Fund (TCMF). In addition, the provincial government is delaying the application period for the special guide licence lottery until June 2020.

Closures / Restrictions: The Yukon Territory has restricted mass gatherings of more than 50 people. Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has also encouraged people who can work from home to do so.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley has announced that the territories’ hospitals are suspending all non-urgent or routine services beginning March 26. The Government of Yukon is also extending the Health Care Insurance Plan to cover individuals who are not able to return to the territory because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Premier Sandy Silver has declared a State of Emergency under the Civil Emergency Measures Act.

COVID-19 Countermeasures: Deputy Premier, Ranj Pillai announced details of supports available to address the economic impacts of event cancellations related to COVID-19. The Temporary Support for Events Funding Program will help business recover from the cancellation of major events due to COVID-19. All Yukon businesses and NGOs may apply.
