Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association executive director Robert Thompson announced that a new “work-disruption” policy will provide financial relief for fee-for-service doctors losing income due to COVID-19. The new policy guarantees that physicians will be compensated for at least 80 percent of their average earnings. The policy is effective retroactively from March 18 through July 1, or until the provincial health department “deems pandemic health care delivery no longer necessary.”
